Solutions manager

This position is responsible for oversight of multiple software development projects to ensure that they meet or exceed Client expectations by providing guidance on the processes being used by VP and monitoring deliverables and client satisfaction. This position has Client interface requirements. This position reports to the Principal Solutions Manager.

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum of seven years developing software in a commercial software development environment.
Minimum of three years leading a software development team of two or more people.
Ability to design and develop large scale, complex applications is preferred, but not required.
Minimum of one year experience working in an Agile/SCRUM environment is preferred, but not required.
Four year degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred, but not required.

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and experience in delivering technology solutions.
Ability to manage minimum 2 projects at a time.
Ability to mentor and coach technical personnel as regards processes, practices, and leadership.
Advanced ability to read, write and speak English.

Essential functions

Assist project teams as needed to ensure the ongoing success of project, which may include but is not limited to the following.
Project management support: providing clarity to the anticipated business solution, identifying risks, removing impediments, etc.

Agile process support: acting as an Agile coach, ensuring Agile best practices are followed, participating in daily stand ups, etc.
Ongoing issue and risk identification and management, with escalation as appropriate.

Optionally, technical support, as appropriate, given the Solution Manager’s skills and experience: ensuring design and coding best practices and standards are followed, giving technical and/or architectural guidance, participating in architecture and design reviews, etc.
